Material Overview
Stainless steel grade 301 is supplied as strips and wires with tensile strength up to 1800 MPa, available in tempers from 1/16 Hard to Full Hard. Controlled analysis enables sufficient ductility retention even in ½ hard conditions, making it suitable for aircraft components, rail car parts, and architectural structures.

Performance Characteristics
Corrosion Resistance
Grade 301 offers corrosion resistance similar to 304 stainless steel, providing excellent performance in mildly corrosive environments at ambient temperatures.
Heat Resistance
Excellent oxidation resistance for intermittent service up to 840°C and continuous service up to 900°C.
Cold Working
High work hardening rate (14MPa increase per 1% reduction) enables achievement of high strength through cold rolling and roll forming operations. Non-magnetic in annealed condition, becomes strongly magnetic when cold worked.
Welding
Suitable for all standard welding methods using 308L filler metal. Annealing recommended after welding for maximum corrosion resistance. Spot welding ideal for assembling cold rolled components without compromising strength.
