Stainless steel grade 409L is a general chromium, titanium stabilized, ferritic stainless steel specifically designed for automotive exhaust systems. With 11% chromium content - the minimum required for forming the passive surface film that provides corrosion resistance - this alloy combines excellent elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength, good formability, and cost-effectiveness.
