Types of Stainless Steel Beams
Stainless steel beams are named after their distinctive 'I' shape profile. The I-beam serves as the universal reference model, with other beam types named in comparison.
I Beam
The most common beam in our inventory. I-beams feature a center web that can be rolled according to mill equipment capacity (typically 5/8″). These beams are lighter in weight, making them ideal for numerous applications. I-beams are manufactured as a single solid piece of metal through rolling processes.
H Beam
H-beams offer superior strength compared to I-beams, though they require more complex manufacturing. Instead of being rolled as one piece, H-beams consist of three individually created components welded together. This construction method allows each section to be reinforced separately, resulting in a heavier beam capable of withstanding greater force and pressure.
