Urea Grade 316LMod Stainless Steel Bar with diameters ranging from 6-250mm, available in hot rolled or forged configurations.
Product Overview
UREA 316L Modified grade has been specially developed for urea plant applications. This advanced stainless steel features extra-low silicon content and substantially higher molybdenum contents compared to standard 316L.

Fabrication Guidelines
Hot Forming
Hot forming should be performed in the temperature range of 1200-950°C (2732-1742°F) after uniform heat treatment. Final full annealing at 1120-1180°C (2048-2156°F) followed by water quenching is required to achieve the proper microstructure.
Cold Forming
The fully austenitic microstructure allows for excellent cold forming capabilities. However, the higher molybdenum content and cold hardening characteristics may require more powerful equipment compared to 304 stainless steel.
Pickling & Welding
UREA Modified grade must be used in pickled and passivated conditions. Suitable welding processes include TIG, Plasma, MIG, SMAW, SAW, and FCAW. Limit heat input to 1.5 kJ/mm and maintain interpass temperature below 150°C (302°F) to prevent hot cracking.
Corrosion Performance
In Huey test solution (ASTM A262-C), maximum weight loss is 3.3 m/48h (0.54 g/m·h) with selective attack limited to under 200 μm.
