Product Overview
Alloy 409 is a general purpose, chromium, titanium stabilized, ferritic stainless steel primarily used in automotive exhaust systems. With 11% chromium content - the minimum required for forming the passive surface film that provides corrosion resistance - this alloy combines excellent elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength, good formability, and competitive cost. 409L stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel and serves as an effective alternative in mildly challenging environments where corrosion and high temperature oxidation resistance are critical.
