Material Description
654SMO (S32654, 1.4652) super austenitic stainless steel contains 23% nickel, 25% chromium, and 7% molybdenum, offering superior corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic steels. This high-molybdenum alloy provides excellent pitting and stress corrosion resistance in seawater, aeration, crevice, and low-speed erosion conditions, making it a cost-effective alternative to nickel-based alloys and titanium.
Manufacturing Process
Due to its hard and sticky nature during perforation, 654SMO requires specialized processing including center perforation of round steel followed by cold rolling or drawing to ensure high success rates and prevent eccentricity or cracking.
