Performance Characteristics
Corrosion Resistance
Excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance with good corrosion resistance to numerous substances. Pitting and crevice corrosion resistance similar to grade 304.
Heat Resistance
Capable of resisting oxidation up to 870°C in intermittent usage and 815°C in continuous usage.
Heat Treatment
Solution annealing at 815-845°C followed by slow furnace cooling. Cannot be hardened by thermal treatment.
Welding
Pre-heating required at 150-200°C. Recommended filler rods: 430, 308L, 309, or 310 based on application.
Machining & Fabrication
Easier machining than austenitic steels with low work hardening rate enabling easy bending and forming. Grade 430F offers enhanced machinability.
