About 304 Stainless Steel
Grade 304 is the most commonly used stainless steel. It is an austenitic, corrosion-resistant steel with excellent strength, toughness, fabrication characteristics and weldability. The low carbon version, 304L, may be required for full corrosion resistance when thicker sections are welded. The 304H version has a guaranteed minimum carbon content, which ensures good strength at high temperatures.

Available Forms: Plate, coil, sheet, strip, round, hexagon, flat bar, angles, tube, pipe and welding consumables.
Finishing Options: No1 (hot rolled, annealed and pickled), 2D (cold rolled), 2B (cold rolled, skin passed), N4 (polished), BA (bright annealed).
Flat products available with surface protection: white polyethylene (PE) film, blue poly vinyl chloride (PVC) for deep drawing, or black PVC for heavy forming.
Corrosion Resistance
Grade 304 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance in many environments. It performs well in atmospheric conditions, resisting most environments except marine conditions or heavy industrial pollution. Best appearance is maintained where design allows rain washing or occasional cleaning of dirt deposits.
Suitable for potable water applications up to 200 ppm chloride content. Not generally recommended for seawater due to probability of crevice corrosion under sediments and biofouling.
