Key Features of S32760 Super Duplex Stainless Steel
S32760 duplex steel provides superior resistance to chloride corrosion, high thermal conductivity, and low coefficient of thermal expansion. The elevated chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content deliver exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and other corrosive attacks.
This super duplex stainless steel demonstrates excellent performance in various inorganic and organic acids. The addition of copper enhances resistance to non-oxidative acid corrosion. S32760 also exhibits strong resistance to alkaline corrosion, though prolonged exposure above 300°C is not recommended as it may reduce material toughness.
Originally developed in the 1980s to address corrosion resistance limitations in second-generation duplex stainless steels, S32760 has become a critical material for oil and gas development, seawater environments, flue gas desulfurization (FGD), desalination systems, and chemical processing applications.
The inclusion of tungsten and copper in S32760 enhances corrosion resistance in specific acids and improves passivation capabilities in seawater environments. The material's microstructure features a balanced two-phase structure (α/γ ≈ 1) under proper solid solution conditions.
