Round steel refers to a solid long strip of steel with a circular cross-section. Its specifications are expressed in diameter in millimeters (mm), such as "50mm", which means round steel with a diameter of 50 mm.

Round Bar is a long, cylindrical metal bar stock that has many industrial and commercial applications. The most common application is shafts. The product is typically measured by taking its diameter. Standard diameters range from 1/4″ all the way up to 24″. Other sizes may be available.

The most common shapes are round bar (also called rod), rectangular bar (including square bar, the special case of equal sides), and hexagonal bar (usually called hex bar for short). Tube and pipe are similar, but have hollow centers and are traditionally not called "bar" in industrial usage.
