4. Magnesium is involved in the biosynthesis of DNA and RNA.
5. Magnesium can promote the biosynthesis of Va and Vc, and improve the quality of fruits and vegetables.
Magnesium deficiency symptoms in plants
When the magnesium content is less than 0.2%, plants are prone to magnesium deficiency. Magnesium deficiency symptoms first appear on older leaves due to the greater mobility of magnesium in the phloem. When plants are deficient in magnesium, the prominent manifestation is a decrease in chlorophyll content and chlorosis. Beans, sugar cane, sugar beets, citrus, grapes, bananas, tomatoes, cotton, tobacco and rue crops are sensitive to magnesium deficiency.
Symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency: Plants are short and grow slowly. The chlorosis between the veins of the old leaves begins, and the veins are still green. "Bead-like" yellow streaks appear on grass leaves. Magnesium-deficient fruits of perennial fruit trees are small or fail to develop.
