Description
Mooring bollards are a vital component of any mooring system. It is the anchor point for mooring lines to be fixed in order to secure the vessel. It is usually a short post on a quay / jetty.
Some of the most commonly used bollard designs today are the Single Bitt, Double Bitt, T-head, Horn (or some known as Staghorn), Kidney-shaped and some variable double head bollard designs.
Besides size & design, mooring bollards are also categorised by their grade and load ratings. Moreover, durability is a factor when choosing a suitable bollard design as maintenance is something that end user should have in mind.

Coating System
Mooring Bollards are supplied as factory standard with a protective coating suitable for most projects. High performance epoxy or other specified paint system can be factory applied on request in a choice of colors and thicknesses. Standard available coatings include (uncoated, zinc oxide primer or high performance epoxy).
Mooring Bollards are also available and supplied with Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) on special request basis. Wear and abrasion from ropes means paint coatings need regular maintenance. Ductile iron bollards are far less susceptible to corrosion than cast steel bollards, which can rust quickly and will need frequent painting to retain full strength.
Quality Assurance
Mooring Bollards are safety critical items and quality is paramount. Independent third party witnessing of test is available at additional cost on request. A typical quality documentation package will include:
