The production process of Amino Moulding Plastic (AMP) involves the following key steps:
1. Resin Pre-polymerization
- Urea and formaldehyde undergo controlled pre-polymerization to form urea-formaldehyde resin. Auxiliary materials (e.g., stabilizers) are added during this stage to optimize resin properties.
2. Raw Material Mixing
- The pre-polymerized resin is combined with additives in a mixing reactor. Key additives include:
- Curing agents (to initiate cross-linking),
- Release agents (to facilitate demolding),
- Fillers (e.g., plant fibers or cellulose for reinforcement).
- The mixture is homogenized and dried to reduce volatile content.
3. High-Pressure Briquetting
- The dried material is heated to 45–80°C to enhance plasticity while maintaining a loose, uncompacted state.
- It is then pressed into briquettes under 5,000–25,000 psi pressure using a briquetting machine. The resulting briquettes have a low surface/volume ratio (<10:1) to minimize defects.
4. Granulation
- Hot briquettes are immediately granulated into uniform particles. This step ensures material flowability and consistency for subsequent molding processes.
5. Molding (Injection/Compression)
- Granules are fed into an injection molding machine or compression mold.
- Under heat and pressure, the material flows into the mold cavity, solidifies via thermosetting, and forms the final product
