MCS1806GS Sensor IC Linear Hall-Effect Current Sensor
A linear Hall-effect current sensor designed for AC or DC current sensing applications with differential Hall array technology that cancels out stray magnetic fields.
Product Overview
The MCS1806GS features a primary conductor with low resistance that allows current to flow close to the IC, which contains high-accuracy Hall-effect sensors. This current generates a magnetic field sensed at two different points by integrated Hall-effect transducers. The magnetic field difference is converted into a voltage proportional to the applied current, utilizing a spinning current technique for low, stable offset.
Galvanic isolation between the primary conductive path pins and sensor leads enables the MCS1806 to replace optoisolators and other isolation devices. With minimal external components required and a compact SOIC-8 footprint, this device is ideal for space-constrained applications.
