316Ti is essentially 316 with the addition of some titanium(Ti) to reduce the risk of losing corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone. An alternative to prevent this, is to reduce the carbon(C) level, which results in the grade 316L.
316Ti vs 316L Cookware.Some consider 316L stainless steel to be a better choice in some cases, but the fact that 316Ti incorporates titanium can improve mechanical strength. This is especially true when cooking at high temperatures above 600 degrees C.ATI 316Ti stainless is a single phase austenitic (face centered cubic) stainless steel at all temperatures up to the melting point. The alloy can not be hardened by heat treatment. The alloy is nonmagnetic in the annealed condition. Its magnetic permeability is typically less than 1.02 at 200 H (Oersteds).
