Addition of Molybdenum (Mo): Compared to 304/304L, 316L contains an additional 2-3% molybdenum (Mo). This significantly enhances its resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion, making it highly suitable for marine and chemical industry environments.
Ultra low carbon (L) design: The carbon content is strictly controlled below 0.03%, greatly reducing the risk of chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries after welding or heat treatment, thereby providing excellent intergranular corrosion resistance, especially suitable for thick section components that require welding.
