Selection of Battery To Starter Cable:

Wire: high temperature resistant wire or irradiated wire [QVR-105℃, AEX(F), STX, SGX];
Bellows: Nylon (PA);
Dust jacket: fluorine rubber, EPDM or neoprene;
Tape: cloth base or high temperature resistant tape (gray);
Terminals: matt tin plated; battery clips - copper tin plated or zinc, lead-tin alloy;
Heat shrinkable tube: cross-linked polyolefin (PE), continuous use temperature -55~125℃.

Design Considerations for Battery To Starter Cable:

Due to the large cross-sectional area of the battery wiring harness, poor wire flexibility, and thick terminal material, the direction of the battery wiring harness should reflect the actual loading situation, so as to facilitate the operation.

The cross-sectional area of the positive wire of the battery is 16~95mm2, generally red. The maximum starting current of the starter is provided by the starter manufacturer. The gasoline engine is generally 200~600A, and the diesel engine is as high as 1kA. When selecting the wire, the temperature rise caused by the ambient temperature plus the current in the conductor cannot be higher than the continuous working temperature index of the wire. At 20°C, the voltage difference between the two ends of the battery and the two ends of the starter per 100A shall not exceed the requirements in Table 1.
