A grate is arranged in the steam boiler to support the solid fuel in the boiler. The grate is designed to also allow air to enter the solid fuel for combustion.
Horizontal tempering tube boilers are generally used in small capacity thermal power plants. It consists of a horizontal drum with many horizontal tubes. The pipes are submerged in water.
In order to generate electricity, power plants use high-pressure steam. Boilers obtain energy from some form of fuel, such as coal, natural gas or nuclear fuel, and heat water to steam.
