Nickel Wastewater Treatment Process

The system processes ≤30 m³/day of nickel-containing wastewater using continuous treatment technology. The treatment process includes:

  • Homogenization in collection sump
  • Chemical reduction and pH adjustment in duplex reactor
  • Flocculation with PAM for precipitation
  • Sedimentation and sludge separation
  • Sludge dewatering via filter press
  • Filtrate recycling for reprocessing

Process Description

Nickel-containing wastewater flows from the production workshop into the collection sump for homogenization. The wastewater is then pumped to the duplex reactor where reducing agents are added and thoroughly mixed. Alkaline agents adjust the pH to optimal levels, and PAM facilitates flocculent precipitation. The treated water flows to sedimentation tanks where suspended solids settle as sludge, while the clarified supernatant proceeds to alkaline wastewater treatment.

Sedimentation tank sludge is periodically transferred to concentration tanks, then dewatered using filter presses. The resulting dry sludge is properly packaged and handled by certified disposal units to prevent secondary environmental contamination. All filtrate is returned to the duplex reactor for reprocessing.

Under normal operating conditions, the treated nickel-containing wastewater mixed with comprehensive wastewater consistently meets all specified discharge requirements, ensuring full regulatory compliance and environmental protection.

Note: Production wastewater includes only cleaning wastewater from water washing tanks, excluding tank discharge liquids. The oxidation production line does not include acid etching or three-acid polishing processes.
