Why is Tin Valuable? Tin is an element that, when refined, is a soft, pliable, silvery-white metal. It resists corrosion and, therefore, is often used as a protective coating for other metals. Tin also forms useful alloys with many other common metals including copper.
Tin plating is often used as a useful measure against corrosion, oxidation, and erosion when exposed to the environment. Other metals, like copper, react insufficiently. A thin coat of tin prevents this and increases the overall life expectancy of the product. The same goes for many other materials.
Tin Plating is used extensively in the food and electronic industries. It is safe and non-toxic, offers a first-rate corrosion resistance and is pliable with low porosity.
