CuNi 90/10 Copper Nickel Alloy Plate ASTM B171 C70600 Marine Sheet for Pipe Flanges
CuNi 90/10 Copper Nickel Alloy Plate ASTM B171 C70600 Marine Sheet for Pipe Flanges
1. Product Description
Copper Nickel Plate is a copper‑based alloy plate containing nickel (10% or 30%), iron, and manganese, optimized for resistance to corrosion in natural and polluted seawater. The alloy forms a thin, adherent, protective oxide film that is self‑healing in oxygenated environments. Grades C70600 (90/10 CuNi) and C71500 (70/30 CuNi) are the most widely specified, along with Chinese equivalents BFe10‑1‑1 and BFe30‑1‑1. Manufacturing routes include hot rolling (HR) for plates 5 mm and above, and cold rolling (CR) for thinner gauges (0.5–4 mm). Heat treatment (annealing) is applied to achieve the desired mechanical properties and to remove residual stresses. Surface finishes range from as‑hot‑rolled (with scale), pickled, cold rolled 2B, satin, mirror polished, to chequered (raised pattern for floor plates). All products are certified to ASTM B171, ASME SB171, or GB/T 15272.
2. Product Applications
-
Desalination (Reverse Osmosis pre‑treatment): Cartridge filter housings, pressure vessel end plates, feed channel spacers.
-
Marine exhaust gas cleaning (scrubbers): Internal baffle plates, spray bank support plates, water collection trays.
-
Floating production storage and offloading (FPSO): Seawater lift pump wear rings, flare tower base plates.
-
Naval vessels: Propeller shaft bearing pads, rudder horn liners, degaussing system coil support plates.
-
Coastal infrastructure: Lock gate facing plates, fish passage screen plates, culvert gate seals.
-
Industrial refrigeration: Condenser plates for ammonia systems in cold storage facilities.
3.Product Advantages
-
Proven resistance to impingement attack and cavitation – Withstands localized high‑velocity zones (e.g., pump volutes, valve seats).
-
Excellent resistance to chloride‑induced pitting – No pitting observed even after long‑term immersion in warm seawater (up to 45°C).
-
Good oxidation resistance in air up to 450°C – Suitable for intermittent high‑temperature exposure (e.g., exhaust system components).
-
High resistance to hydrogen embrittlement – Safe for use in environments with cathodic protection (e.g., steel structures).
-
Easy to cut and machine – Can be sheared, sawn, turned, and milled with standard carbide tooling.
-
Readily available in ready‑to‑ship sizes – Many dimensions stocked for immediate dispatch.
-
Third‑party inspection accepted – SGS, BV, DNV, ABS inspection possible at buyer‘s cost.
