1.Product Description

Copper nickel bar is a solid rod material based on copper with nickel as the main alloying element. Common grades by nickel content include CuNi8 (~8% Ni), CuNi10 (~10% Ni), CuNi14 (~14% Ni), CuNi19 (~19% Ni), CuNi30 (~30% Ni), as well as ASTM grades C70600 (90/10 cupronickel) and C71500 (70/30 cupronickel). The bars are produced via vacuum melting, hot extrusion, multiple‑pass cold drawing, straightening and polishing, offering precise dimensional tolerances and a surface free from scale, cracks or folds. Applicable standards include ASTM B151/B151M, EN 12163, GB/T 4423, and JB/T 4755

 

2.Product Applications

Thanks to their excellent overall performance, copper nickel bars are widely applied in:

  • Marine and offshore structures:Seawater circulation piping, valve stems, heat exchanger tube sheets, propeller shaft sleeves, submarine cable sheaths, offshore platform fasteners.

  • Petrochemical industry:Acid‑resistant pump shafts, reactor agitators, evaporator heating tubes, tank inner lining strips.

  • Electric power:Resistance elements in high‑voltage circuit breakers, shunts, transformer winding cores.

  • Automotive and machinery:Hydraulic brake hard tubes, pneumatic connectors, precision gear blanks, plain bearing bushes.

  • Instrumentation:Thermocouple sheaths, thermometer protection tubes, pressure measurement conduits.

​3.Product Advantages

  1. Extreme corrosion resistance:Excellent resistance to both general and localized corrosion in seawater, chloride solutions, dilute sulfuric acid and alkaline media, with very low pitting and crevice corrosion tendency.

  2. High strength‑toughness balance:Higher strength than pure copper and brass, while maintaining elongation above 20%, with good impact and fatigue resistance.

  3. Erosion and cavitation resistance:Low corrosion rate even in seawater with flow velocity up to 5 m/s, and outstanding resistance to cavitation peeling.

  4. Workability:Good machinability for turning, milling, drilling and tapping; hot bending and welding (TIG, resistance welding) can be performed without special difficulties.

  5. Wide service temperature range:From -250°C to +350°C, mechanical properties change gradually without low‑temperature brittleness or high‑temperature softening.

  6. Long‑term reliability:Service life up to 30 years in marine environments, with very low maintenance costs.
