Product Description:
A manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor measures the pressure in the intake manifold. Usually located next to or on the throttle body, it transmits information about the intake manifold pressure to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). With this data, the ECU can work out the air density and accordingly adjust the air-fuel mixture amount for combustion. Besides, the ECU can also use this data to measure engine load, control the fuel injection pulse and adjust the ignition timing.
A MAP sensor also provides information for diagnosing potential issues with the throttle, detecting vacuum leak in the intake manifold, as well as converting the MAP signal into air mass data with the help of engine speed and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.
