2024 is a typical duralumin in Al-Cu-Mg system, with reasonable composition and good comprehensive properties. This alloy is produced in many countries and is the largest use of duralumin. The alloy is characterized by high strength, certain heat resistance, and can be used for working parts below 150°C. At temperatures above 125°C, the 2024 alloy is stronger than the 7075 alloy. The formability is good in hot state, annealing state and new quenching state, and the heat treatment strengthening effect is remarkable, but the heat treatment process is strict. The corrosion resistance is poor, but the pure aluminum coating can be effectively protected. Welding is easy to crack, but the use of special technology can be welded, can also be riveted.
