Description:
Aluminium sulphate is a liquid flocculent for the treatment of municipal water and waste water systems. It works by combining the small impurities in the water to form a floc which can then be settled & if required filtered . It is suitable for use in drinking water, dams, pools and the treatment of waste water. It should not be used in ponds, dams or where aquatic life is present.

Application:
Aluminium sulfate is used
- in water purification and for chemical phosphorus removal from waste water.
- in the human food industry as a firming agent.
- as a mordant in dyeing and printing textiles.
- to reduce the pH of garden soil, as it hydrolyzes to form the aluminium hydroxide precipitate and a dilute sulfuric acid solution
- as waterproofing agent and accelerator in concrete in the construction industry.
- as a foaming agent in fire fighting foam.
Directions For Use
Depending on the quality of water dosage of 50mg per litre down to 15mg/l .
pH of the water should be checked to ensure it is above 6.
If pH is too low the correct up with either Soda Ash or Sodium Bicarbonate.
500ml per 10,000L of water with slow agitation to disperse the alum is required.
Mixing for several hours is desirable and then settling for 6 to 8 hours.
For Municipal water and waste water dilutions are plant and source dependant.

Avoid dust formation. Keep formation of airborne dusts to a minimum. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Do not breathe dust from this material. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Do not get this material in contact with eyes. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid prolonged exposure. Wash thoroughly after handling. Practice good housekeeping. Emergency eye wash fountains and emergency showers should be available in the immediate vicinity. |
