Z275 galvanized steel coil is a carbon steel sheet coated with zinc on both sides through a continuous hot-dipping process. This electro-galvanizing method involves passing cold rolled coils through molten zinc baths, creating a protective zinc layer that bonds to the base metal via iron-zinc bonding.
The "Z275" designation refers to the zinc coating weight of 275 grams per square meter (g/m²). This measurement follows the SI Metric system, where Z275 corresponds to approximately 0.90 ounces per square foot in the ASTM standard. The zinc coating provides dual protection: acting as a barrier against environmental elements and sacrificially corroding to protect the underlying steel.
