AISI 5140 Alloy Steel Specifications
Material Description
AISI 5140 alloy steel offers excellent comprehensive mechanical properties and is widely used for manufacturing medium-speed, medium-load components. This steel type is ideal for machine tool gears, shafts, worms, spline shafts, and similar applications. Compared to 1045 steel, 5140 provides superior tensile strength, yield strength, hardenability, fatigue strength, and toughness while maintaining good machinability in normalized or tempered conditions.
Available Forms
We supply AISI 5140 steel in various forms including round bars, flat bars, plates, hexagonal bars, and square blocks. Round bars can be custom-cut to required lengths, while rectangular pieces can be sawn from flat bar or plate to your specific dimensions. Precision ground tool steel bars are also available with tight tolerances.
