Grade 304 is the most commonly used austenitic stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance, strength, toughness, fabrication characteristics, and weldability. The low carbon version (304L) provides full corrosion resistance for welded thicker sections, while 304H maintains strength at high temperatures.
