In general, it is recommended to use grinding jars and balls made from the same material. The appropriate sizes of jars and balls can be determined through experimental testing if needed.

A variety of materials are available, including stainless steel, zirconia, alumina, polyurethane (PU), carbon steel, tungsten carbide, agate, hard metal, silicon nitride, high wear-resistant steel, manganese steel, cemented carbide, crystal glass, and other special metallic materials.
