Structural Washers Description
A structural washer is a through hardened product, serving to prevent loosening under maximum torque, distributing the load over a greater area than the bolt and nut diameter, whilst helping to prevent galling and damaging the clamped surfaces. A small amount of lubrication is advised to help friction during the tightening process. These washers are primarily used with structural nut and bolt assemblies. AS1252:2016 standard is recognised with 3 tabs on the outside of the washer. EN14399 is the European standard for Preloaded bolting assemblies. The Hardened washer in this standard; EN14399-6; is round with no tabs but has chamfered corners for relief purposes.
