The Working Principle of Shaded Pole Motor
A shaded pole motor is an AC single-phase induction motor. The auxiliary winding is composed of a copper ring, called a shaded pole coil. The current in the coil delays the phase of the magnetic flux at that part of the magnetic pole to provide a rotating magnetic field. The direction of rotation is from the non-shaded pole. to the shading pole ring.
In a shaded pole motor, the rotor is placed in a simple c-shaped core, and half of each pole is covered by a shaded pole coil. When AC current passes through the supply coil, a pulsating magnetic flux is generated. When the magnetic flux through the shade coil changes, voltage and current are induced in the shaded pole coil, corresponding to the change in magnetic flux from the power coil. Therefore, the magnetic flux under the shaded pole coil lags behind the magnetic flux in the rest of the coil. The rotor produces a small rotation in the magnetic flux, causing the rotor to rotate. The figure below shows the magnetic flux lines obtained through finite element analysis.
The Structure of Shaded Pole Motor
- Rotor group: Mainly composed of cast aluminum rotor, shaft, thrust washer to prevent the rotor from moving forward and backward, and spacers to adjust the amount of movement.
- Between stator groups: mainly composed of short-circuit ring and main stator core.
- Wire package assembly: mainly composed of coils, skeletons, lead wires or thermal protectors and related insulation wrapping materials.
- Bracket assembly: According to the different installation positions of the shaft extension end and non-shaft extension end, it is divided into front bracket assembly and rear bracket assembly.
