Motor Application
The Basic Principles of Shaded Pole Motor
The stator winding, that is, the main winding, generates magnetic potential after the power is turned on. The magnetic potential enters the air gap through the stator core. Most of the magnetic potential enters the air gap through the uncovered part of the magnetic pole. A small part of the magnetic potential passes through the short-circuit ring - the secondary winding is in the reactance. The effect (or Faraday's principle of electromagnetic induction) causes a hysteretic magnetic potential to enter the air gap, so two magnetic potential vectors with different phase angles in the air gap magnetic field are superimposed to form a composite magnetic potential. The resultant magnetic potential is a directional rotating magnetic potential. (The rotation direction of the magnetic potential is always from the unshaded pole part of the magnetic pole to the covered pole part. Here, it is required to master the determination method of the motor rotation direction.) The main magnetic flux generated by the rotating magnetic potential in the magnetic circuit enters the rotor and interacts with the rotor. The squirrel cage windings are connected in turns, thereby inducing an electric potential in the short-circuited rotor winding, thereby generating a rotor current. The rotor current interacts with the rotating magnetic field in the air gap, and according to the left-hand rule, forces the rotor conductor, causing the rotor to rotate. This is the most basic electromagnetic process that occurs in a shaded pole motor.
The Classification Shaded Pole Motor
According to the shape and structure of the stator, shaded pole motors are divided into salient pole shaded pole motors and hidden pole shaded pole motors.
- Salient pole shaded pole motor: The stator core is shaped like a square, rectangular or circular magnetic field frame with protruding magnetic poles. Each magnetic pole has one or more auxiliary short-circuit copper rings, that is, shaded pole windings. The concentrated winding on the salient magnetic pole serves as the main winding.
- Hidden-pole shaded-pole motor: The stator core is the same as that of an ordinary single-phase motor. Its stator winding uses distributed winding. The main winding is distributed in the stator slot. The shaded-pole winding does not need a short-circuiting copper ring, but is wound with thicker enameled wire. Distributed windings (short-circuit themselves after being connected in series) are embedded in the stator slots (about 1/3 of the total number of slots) and play the role of auxiliary groups. The main winding and the shaded pole winding are separated by a certain angle in space.
