Why are Shaded Pole Motors Widely Used In Household Appliances?
Shaded Pole Motor, also called Shaded Pole Motor, is a type of single-phase AC motor. It usually uses a cage-shaped chute cast aluminum rotor. According to the different shape and structure of the stator, it is divided into salient pole shaded pole motor and hidden pole shaded pole motor.
The distinguishing feature of the shaded pole motor is that the structure is very simple, there is no centrifugal switch, the power loss of the shaded pole motor is large, the motor power factor is low, and the starting torque is also very low. They are designed to remain small and have low power ratings. The speed of a motor is as precise as the frequency of the power supply applied to the motor, and these motors are often used to drive clocks. Shaded pole motors only rotate in one specific direction, and it is impossible for the motor to rotate in the opposite direction. The loss caused by the shaded pole coil makes the motor less efficient and its structure is simple. These motors are widely used in household fans and other small-capacity electrical appliances.
The Classification of the Shaded Pole Motor
According to the shape and structure of the stator, shaded pole motors are divided into salient pole shaded pole motors and hidden pole shaded pole motors.
- Salient pole shaded pole motor: The stator core is a square, rectangular or circular magnetic field frame with protruding magnetic poles. Each magnetic pole has one or more auxiliary short-circuit copper rings, that is, shaded pole windings. The concentrated winding on the salient magnetic pole serves as the main winding.
- Hidden-pole shaded-pole motor: The stator core is the same as that of ordinary single-phase motors. The stator winding uses distributed winding. The main winding is distributed in the stator slot. The shaded-pole winding does not need short-circuiting copper rings, but is wound with thicker enameled wire. Distributed windings (short-circuit themselves after being connected in series) are embedded in the stator slots (about 1/3 of the total number of slots) and play the role of auxiliary groups. The main winding and the shaded pole winding are separated by a certain angle in space.
