Construction and Functions

The GS820 features two isolated analog channels, each containing a constant voltage source (VS), constant current source (IS), voltmeter (VM), and ammeter (IM).

Source and Measurement Functions:

  • Voltage source and current measurement (VS & IM)
  • Current source and voltage measurement (IS & VM)
  • Voltage source (VS)
  • Current source (IS)
  • Voltmeter (VM)
  • Ammeter (IM)
  • Resistance meter (IS&VM)

Functions can be selected for each channel to form arbitrary combinations. Supports voltage sensing of two-wire or four-wire systems by switching between local sense and remote sense.

Combination of Source and Measurement Functions

The combination of source and measurement functions across two channels enables testing of various DUTs.

Source and Measurement Functions Combination
Source and Measurement Timing
Basic Source Measurement Timing

The GS820 performs generation and measurement using internal timer or external trigger input. Upon trigger signal reception, generation starts after source delay time elapses, followed by measurement after measure delay time elapses over given integration time.

Measurement integration time: 0.001 PLC to 25 PLC*². Auto zero measurement function measures internal zero reference after measurement and performs real-time offset correction.

Timing Settings Using Various Trigger Sources

Generation and measurement trigger sources can be set separately. Two types of constant period timers and external signal input available for generation trigger source. Source change point and sweep end point can be used for measurement trigger source.

Source trigger and measurement trigger can be set separately for each channel, accommodating various connection conditions and timing combinations. Auxiliary trigger available via external signal or program event.

Timing Settings with Various Trigger Sources
Asynchronous Operation of Source and Measure

Various trigger sources enable asynchronous source and measurement execution. Separate timers allow multiple measurements within a source cycle.

Sweep Functions
Preset Sweep

Voltage/current generation block operates in DC or pulse generation mode. Preset operation modes include continuous output, linear sweep, and log sweep. Output level can be changed at minimum 100-μs intervals*¹ in each sweep mode.

Arbitrary Waveform Generation

Up to 100,000 points with simultaneous sweeping of control parameters at minimum program cycles.

Test Sequence Editing

Enables editing of test sequences suitable for auto testing on production lines. Program file parameters include source value, measured value, high/low limits for comparison, comparison result, control bit output, etc. CSV format allows editing via popular spreadsheet applications.

Channel Expansion

Expansion up to 10 channels using master-slave operation. Multiple GS820s can be connected as multi-channel source measure unit. Master unit distributes source data to slaves and collects/merges measured data from all units. Complete synchronization achieved via exclusive trigger signal line.

Channel Expansion Configuration
Zero Generation Function

Generates zero voltage or current while controlling current/voltage limiter to limit load current. Stops applying voltage or supplying current to load in zero generation state, allowing DUT disconnection with output relay ON. Eliminates chattering problems and contact life issues of output relay, reducing ON/OFF output time.
