ASTM A815 Classification
ASTM A815 covers wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic, and martensitic stainless steel piping fittings. Class WP fittings are subdivided into four categories:
- WP-S: Seamless products
- WP-W: Welded products
- WP-WX: Pipe fittings with all welds radiographed
- WP-WU: Fittings with all welds ultrasonically tested
Butt Welding Tee Types
- Equal Tee: All three branches have identical diameters (also known as Straight Tee)
- Reducing Tee: Branch diameter is smaller than main line diameter, typically described as NPS diameters (e.g., 4" x 4" x 3")
