MSS SP-97 is a standard developed by the Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) of the Valve and Fittings Industry. It specifically addresses integrally reinforced branch outlet fittings, including Weldolets, which are welded onto the run pipe to create smooth transitions for smaller branch pipes.

Where an ellipsis (﹍) appears in the table, there is no requirement and the element needs to be analyzed for or reported. The method of analysis for nitrogen shall be agreed between purchaser and manufacturer. For small diameter or thin wall applications, carbon maximum of 0.04% is required in grades TP304L and TP316L.
