Compare to the traditional trenching method Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) becomes more and more popular especially in urban construction, river and road crossing because it is more environment friendly and lower operation cost. Earth drilling tools in previous HDD projects can not meet the requirements of pipe line construction as the rock appears more and more frequently. A rock drilling tool is eagerly needed. Downhole motor which is used in oil and gas well directional drilling is introduced into HDD projects and plays a more and more important role in nowadays HDD rock drilling projects.
