DESCRIPTION

Epichlorohydrin rubber (ECO) is a specialized elastomer that exhibits exceptional resistance to fluids and ozone exposure. Combining characteristics of various oil-resistant rubbers such as nitrile (NBR, HNBR), polychlorinated (CR), and polyacrylic (ACM, AEM), ECO offers unique performances that are not commonly found in other materials.

Vulcanized products made with ECO demonstrate excellent resistance to aging, a wide range of fluids, high resilience, and low-temperature flexibility, as well as high gas impermeability. Its dynamic properties are very similar to natural rubber, making it a preferable choice when exceptional performance at high temperatures is required.

However, ECO has some disadvantages, such as poor dielectric properties, a tendency to corrode metals upon contact, and incompatibility with glycol-based oils, aromatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Typical applications of ECO elastomers include the automotive, oil, electrical, textile, and refrigeration industries.

BENEFITS OF ECO RUBBER

Epichlorohydrin rubber (ECO) is a contemporary substitute for PVC/NBR. It bears similarities to nitrile rubber but exhibits superior resistance to heat, oil, and petrol. ECO has lower gas permeability and better low-temperature flexibility when compared to NBR.

Commonly used in automotive fuel systems, ECO's typical operating temperature range spans from -35°C to +125°C. Additionally, it offers excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and ozone exposure.

APPLICATION

1. Industrial Hoses: ECO is also used in the manufacture of industrial hoses for conveying oils, fuels, and chemicals due to its excellent resistance to a wide range of fluids.

2. Marine Applications: Epichlorohydrin rubber (ECH / ECO) is used in various marine applications such as fuel lines, boat decks, and underwater enclosures, as it is resistant to seawater and other marine environments.
