Magnesium chloride is a chloride, chemical formula MgCl2, colorless and easily deliquescent crystal, soluble in water. Magnesium chloride hydrate can be extracted from brine or seawater, usually with 6 molecules of crystal water, but it loses crystal water when heated to 95°C, begins to decompose when it is above 135°C, and releases hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas.
Applications
Metallurgical Industry
Used as an adhesive for manufacturing refractory materials and furnace arms, and is a raw material for manufacturing No. 2 flux and smelting magnesium metal.
Chemical Industry
Mainly used in the production of various magnesium salts, such as magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, firecracker fixative, and also as raw materials for antifreeze.
