- Calcium chloride is a salt composed of calcium and chlorine elements, appearing as solid blocks, flakes, granules, spheres, or powder. It is odorless, easily soluble in water with a slightly alkaline aqueous solution that releases heat during dissolution. Highly hygroscopic and prone to deliquescence when exposed to air.
- Available in industrial grade and food grade variants, with forms including anhydrous calcium chloride, dihydrate calcium chloride, and liquid calcium.
- Industrial applications include petroleum drilling, desiccants, snow melting agents, dehydrating agents, refrigerants, antifreeze, early strength agents, dust collectors, and use in pigment production and printing/dyeing industries.
- Food grade calcium chloride serves as a versatile food additive - as an electrolyte in beverages, salt reduction agent in pickled foods, gelatinization agent in canned goods, and texture enhancer in tofu production.
- Storage instructions: Keep sealed in dry, ventilated conditions to prevent moisture absorption and deterioration.
