Magnesium chloride hexahydrate, also known as water chloride, has a chemical formula of MgCl2 * 6H2O and a molecular weight of 203.3. Colorless crystal, in the form of a column or needle, with a bitter taste, with a white appearance in the form of flakes, granules, or powders. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol, and is prone to deliquescence in high humidity. Hot melt decomposition at 116-118 ℃. Mixing with magnesium oxide and water forms magnesium cement, which is widely used in the production of magnesite materials. React with hydroxides of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals.
