Stainless steel cold rolled strip is made from hot-rolled stainless steel strip as raw material and further cold rolled. Compared with hot rolled strip, it has higher dimensional accuracy, low surface roughness, good surface quality, smoothness, and higher strength. So it is of great economic significance to use thinner cold rolled strips instead of thicker hot rolled strips for the same purpose, in order to save steel usage.
These grades of stainless have chromium (approx. 18 to 30%) and nickel (approx. 6 to 20%) as their major alloying additions. Type 304 is the most widely used alloy of all stainless steels. 300 Series Stainless steel alloys resist corrosion, maintain their strength at high temperatures and are easy to maintain.
