Baking paper, also known as parchment paper or bakery release paper, is a heat-resistant, non-stick paper designed to line baking trays, pans, and molds. Made from wood pulp treated with sulfuric acid or silicone coatings, it undergoes a process called parchmentization, which creates a smooth, greaseproof surface. Unlike wax paper, baking paper contains no wax, making it safe for oven use at temperatures up to 220°C (428°F).
