A flat voice coil motor (VCM) can achieve X-Y motion by combining two separate coils. This design allows for precise motion control on two mutually perpendicular axes.
Specifically, the following is the general process of how a flat voice coil motor achieves X-Y motion:
1.  X-axis motion:  For X-axis motion, a coil of the motor is placed in a position aligned with the X-axis. When current passes through this coil, according to the Lorentz force, the coil will be subjected to a force perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field and the direction of the current. This force will cause the coil to move on the X-axis. By controlling the magnitude and direction of the current passing through the coil, precise X-axis positioning can be achieved.
2.  Y-axis motion:  In order to achieve motion on the Y-axis, another coil is placed in a position aligned with the Y-axis. By transmitting current to this coil, a Lorentz force is also generated, causing the motor to move on the Y-axis.
By simultaneously controlling the coil current on both the X and Y axes, X-Y motion at any position can be achieved on a two-dimensional plane. The implementation of this motion can be achieved not only within a flat voice coil motor, but also through external control of current changes, thereby achieving precise planar motion control.
