Tylin was developed by cross breeding from Tea Research Institute of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences with tieguanyin as female parent and Tylin as male parent. In 2001, it was rated as "ninth five-year Plan" first-class excellent germplasm with the number of 220. In 2003, it passed the fujian variety examination, and in 2010, it passed the national identification and became the national improved tea varieties.
