Nickel 200 is commercially pure wrought nickel with high resistance to various reducing chemicals. It performs well in oxidizing conditions that form a passive oxide film, particularly demonstrating unexcelled resistance to caustic alkalis. Service temperature is limited to below 315°C due to graphitization at higher temperatures.
Nickel 201 is the low-carbon version of Nickel 200, designed for applications above 315°C. It avoids embrittlement from intergranularly precipitated carbon or graphite when exposed to temperatures of 315 to 760°C for prolonged periods, provided carbonaceous materials are not in contact.
