High Permeability Soft Magnetic Alloy
Permalloy 80 is a highly magnetic nickel-iron-molybdenum alloy with approximately 80% nickel, 15% iron, and 5% molybdenum content. This vacuum-melted product serves as an exceptional magnetic core material in electrical and electronic equipment, offering relative permeability of around 100,000 compared to several thousand for ordinary steel. It provides maximum magnetic permeabilities and minimal core losses at low field strengths, making it ideal for compact magnetic core and shielding applications.
Key magnetic properties include near-zero magnetostriction, significant anisotropic magnetoresistance, high initial and maximum permeabilities with low coercive force, low hysteresis loss, and low eddy-current losses. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for thin film applications where variable stresses would otherwise cause destructive variations in magnetic properties.
