Inconel 718 Nickel Alloy Round Bar
Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium alloy containing supplemental amounts of columbium, iron, molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium. This age-hardenable alloy offers excellent fabricability and outstanding welding characteristics, particularly its resistance to postweld cracking. Combined with superior tensile, fatigue, creep, and rupture strength, it serves diverse industrial applications.
Heat Treatment Effects on Mechanical Properties
- Solution Annealing: Heating to 1,600°F (870°C) followed by rapid cooling improves ductility, toughness, and reduces residual stresses.
- Age Hardening: Aging at 1,200-1,300°F (650-700°C) enhances strength and hardness through gamma double-prime precipitation.
- Stress Relieving: Heating to 1,000°F (540°C) reduces internal stresses and improves dimensional stability.
- Cryogenic Treatment: Cooling below -300°F (-184°C) enhances specific material properties.
