Production Description of 316L Stainless Steel Sheets
All steel plate and sheet is hot-rolled as a first rolling step, after which it is annealed in order to attain homogeneous material characteristics. Annealing produces an oxide coating on the steel, which is removed by shot blasting and by pickling in an acid bath.
This process refers to how the surface finish is applied after a piece of stainless steel is rolled, either a hot-rolled slab or a plate. Hot rolling and cold rolling are forming processes which give the finish on a surface of stainless steel. Cold rolling reduces the metals grain, making the material harder, with a smoother, shiny surface.
The rolling metal is then exposed to higher temperatures and is continually rolled at higher speeds. Roll pressing makes steel easier to shape, resulting in products that are easier to work with. Because it is stronger than steel materials, you can twist it, and it will deform into the rolling materials.
