Polyester originated from scientific research in the 1930s, with DuPont employee W.H. Carothers pioneering fiber creation through alcohol and carboxyl acid combination. British scientists C.G. Ritchie and W.K. Birtwhistle further developed the technology in 1941, creating the first commercial polyester fiber known for its wrinkle resistance, durability, and comfort.
Microfiber emerged more recently with origins debated among Japan (1970s), England (1980s), and Sweden (1990s). Regardless of origin, both polyester and microfiber have established critical roles in modern textile manufacturing due to their practical features and performance advantages.
